Learning Reflection #1

Keeping track of the constantly changing world of Marketing and PR is tough. Every day some new form of technology/media opens up a new avenue for the field and each comes with its own challenges. While challenging, staying up to date with what’s going on in the PR and marketing world is absolutely vital to keeping a company successful. Having your finger on the pulse of what’s fresh, useful and attractive to an audience is going to keep you and your brand going in the right direction. Below are a few things that I see as useful for this ever changing field

First and foremost: Social media. It’s everywhere and used by most people(potential clients/customers) 24/7. Having a strong social media presence in the current time can be a gamechanger when it comes to success. Although this is something that seems obvious, having a social media presence isn’t all, having a Strong and memorable presence is what matters. Doing something that will grab customers attention and bring them to purchase your product or service is going to be beneficial when done properly. By doing promotions, using memes, and other attention catching methods, you can hold on to current customers and gain new ones. Also, giving a bit of free content out on platforms such as twitter or instagram  can be a useful way to lure people into purchasing what you provide.

On top of that, as said by author David Meerman Scott , “A friendly nudge” can be a useful tool to make repeat customers or even complete a potential sale. But, this nudge needs to be controlled. Constantly badgering customers, returning or new is something that could drive them away or just pressure them into making a purchase to stop the annoyance. Finding a balance between giving the customer friendly reminders that you’re still around to serve them and not popping up in their email every time they turn around.

There are plenty of other good things to keep in mind when taking part in marketing and PR but, these are some things I would say could really keep customers coming back. Being that our lives constantly involve social media and technology, a lot of focus needs to be put there along with everything else that goes into a successful business.
